PHOENIX DACTYLIFERA
Synonym: Date Palm.
Rustic palm native to North Africa resistant to drought. Its leaves are grayish green and the trunk tends to form suckers from the base of the trunk.
As a historical curiosity, it is considered one of the first plants to be cultivated by man in Mesopotamia more than 6,000 years ago. In fact, the palm groves of Phoenix dactylifera guaranteed the survival of their inhabitants since they provided them with shade and coolness, light, raw material for furniture, mats and baskets, construction material and, of course, food.
